Mini Projects is hosting an event for the Children’s Society of Utah Grandfamilies Program. This event will take place on Saturday, May 15 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Hogle Zoo which is located at 2600 Sunnyside Avenue, Salt Lake City, UT, 84108.
The goal of Grandfamilies Friend 2 Friend event is to promote healthy bonding and long-term relationships between 36 at-risk children and their new caregivers. It provides an avenue to stay connected to others in similar situations, and helps create healthy and happy family memories for these children. Volunteers will help the families by assisting them during train rides, and animal presentation, lunch, family photos, and accompaniment throughout the Hogle Zoo.
The Grandfamiles Program is a support, advocacy, educational and crisis intervention program of the Children’s Services Society. The program was created in 2002 to meet the growing needs of individuals and families that are caring for a relative’s child. Their focus is to provide information and support these families and ultimately give children a safe and permanent home.
