Junior League of Salt Lake City

Labor of Love

Labor of Love

The Mini Projects committee along with several Junior League members and community volunteers purchased and wrapped presents for the Labor of Love project, December 11-13, 2009.  In partnership with Salt Lake Advocacy Community and Training (Salt Lake ACT), this holiday gift program serves 150-300 of Salt Lake City's most vulnerable citizens who are assessed for disability and financial need. The Mini Projects Committee  adopted 25 families who are raising children with significant disabilities.

28 volunteers shopped for presents on Friday and Saturday and 24 volunteers wrapped presents on a wintery Sunday afternoon.  Volunteers contributed their time and money (an additional $350.00) towards buying presents and gift boxes for 25 children with disabilities.

A special thank you to Andrew, the son of Junior League Member, Kris Carlson, for his efforts coordinating a drive for wrapping paper and ribbons for this event.  He did such a fantastic job that there was extra wrapping paper and ribbon to donate to Salt Lake Advocacy Community and Training (Salt Lake ACT) for other presents they collect.

The Mini Projects Committee wishes to thank all of the volunteers for their hard work in making this another successful Junior League project.  Junior League would also like to thank Salt Lake ACT for providing everyone an opportunity to help these children during the holidays.
