Over the past year, the Junior League of Salt Lake City has researched community needs to find out where we can be most effective as an organization. After a vote by the membership, we have decided that tackling modern-day slavery will be our newest project, helping combat the world’s second most profitable criminal industry.
“We will be working with community partners this year to determine how best we can attack this problem in conjunction with their efforts,” said Junior League President Vicki Harder.
January was Human Trafficking Awareness month and in a continuation of those efforts, we presented a FREE screening of I Am Jane Doe in partnership with the Utah Film Center. I Am Jane Doe shines a light on child sex-trafficking, a gut-wrenching reality that affects every community in America, debunking the myth that this crime only happens in developing countries.
