President's Message
Welcome to the Junior League of Salt Lake City! This is a great organization, comprised of truly stellar women, working hard to make a difference in the lives of women and children in our community.
Our theme for 2009-2010 is “Create the Future,” and we do this in so many different ways. We completed our 17th annual CARE Fair in August, which is the largest single event we organize. This year we were able to serve over 4000 women and children. Among other services, we provided 497 immunizations to children, 300 dental screenings, 805 physical exams, 389 eye exams and 680 hearing screenings—all free of charge!
Through our RISE project, we work in collaboration with Catholic Community Services assisting refugee women as they adjust to life in the United States. We have taught groups of women everyday skills to help them become self-sustaining members of our community.
The Women Helping Women Boutique provides work-appropriate clothing to women entering the workforce and are in transition to self-sufficiency. We have helped nearly 10,000 women since 1996.
So whether we are providing a healthier future for families through CARE Fair, giving families a brighter future in the United States through RISE or completely changing a woman’s future by easing her way into the workforce through Women Helping Women, we are truly an organization that creates the future for so many. And, not only do we make a difference in the lives of those we serve, but we are also training volunteers and creating community leaders. Together, we can change the future for so many in our community.
